It’s great to be back together and work in groups! Maths is ok!
On October 23rd, students of the SOKRATES School participated in the 2nd International Symposium – RCI – Jan Czochralski Innovation and Technology Space during which we learned the profile of prof. Jan Czochralski – presented as a businessman, a scientist, an inventor, and above all a leader. The conference launched the presentation of the Nobel Prize winner Klaus von Klitzing to the participants of the meeting. We listened to lectures:
– Dr. P.E. Tomaszewski, PAN (Polska Akademia Nauk),
-Prof. B. Lent, UTP & University of Applied Sciences, Bern,
-Dr. L.-L. Wüstendörfer, University of Basel
-Prof. M. Ausloos, University of Liege & University of Leicester
– Dr. Z. Galazka, Institut für Kristallzüchtung Berlin
– Prof. D. Kasprowicz, President of Polish Society for Crystal Growth & Poznań University of Technology.
We also actively participated in the discussion panel. Since the seminar was interdisciplinary, we learned how to be a good leader. We were most interested in the lecture on Conduct as an example of being a leader. We were also interested in lectures on methods of making and testing crystals as well as their luminescent properties.
Participation in the Symposium was a perfect complement to the physics lesson on crystal issues. It has also allowed us to meet and talk with scientists from leading scientific centers. We are proud to be the only school to participate in this unique international event.
