It’s great to be back together and work in groups! Maths is ok!
Procrastination. You must have heard that word. We use it when we postpone actions “for later” and is often understood as a synonym of laziness. However, this is not the same.
Procrastination is a concept derived from psychology, and most of us, at different times and on various occasions, will certainly experience it or have experienced it. One should pay attention to the fact that for some it is a permanent element in life (the so-called non-adaptive mechanism of action), which interferes with achieving goals, destroys the effects of work and causes difficulties in professional and personal life. So it becomes a big problem.
A person who does not do something out of laziness does not feel remorse because of it.
A person who procrastinates, does. Delaying the performance of activities causes strong stress and remorse. Postponing causes nervousness and guilt, which reduces the ability to concentrate and self-confidence, making the task even more difficult. As a result, the circle closes.
The causes of procrastination can be many and are much more complex than it may seem.
It can be e.g. fear of failure, fear of success, impulsiveness and desire for immediate gratification (impulsive people instead of choosing a reward distant in time, such as satisfaction from passing the exam in half a year, prefer immediate gratification here and now e.g. watching funny videos), a unique style of coping with stress …
Answering the question “Where does my postponing things come from?” is important because when procrastination stays with us for a long time, we will need the help of specialists to get rid of it.
How do you break the put off wheel for later? We’ll tell you about it in a week!
